Along unique landmarks, shops, restaurants and events in 6 creative neighbourhoods!

Kortrijk boasts a long tradition of international trade. As early as in the Middle Ages, Kortrijk flax was one of Flanders' key export products. Thanks to this flax, the city developed a reputation for craftsmanship, topquality design and entrepreneurship. Wars and economic setbacks forced the textile industry to reinvent itself. Thanks to this inevitable transormation, the Kortrijk region became what it is today: creative and resilient. That is why, Kortrijk was awarded membership op the UNSCO Creative Cities Network on 31 October 2017 for design.

Discover Kortrijk with this walk along unique landmarks, shops, restaurants and events in 6 creative neighbourhouds!

During this audio walk (in Dutch), we follow in the footsteps of Louis Seynaeve and visit the places where some key scenes of 'Het Verdriet van België' (The Sorrow of Belgium) were shot. The real Kortrijk and the Valle from 'Het Verdriet van België' often coincide, but never completely. In this novel, Claus adds details, distorts the facts, adds colour, ... It comes as no surprise, therefore, that the tension between fiction and reality is the leitmotif of this walk.

This walk consists of 2 loops that you may or may not combine. Both loops start and end at the Beguinage.

Active walk on the writer Stijn Streuvels

't Perelke was Stijn Streuvels' regular pub in Kortrijk. Appropriate, because many literary gems originated between the pots and the pints, during Streuvels' Kortrijk meanderings.

In this lively walk, a number of these gems will be presented to you.

This is the story of George Washington, not the president, but the famous inventor of the same name who was born in Kortrijk. It is a story of far-reaching family ties, a story of wanderings, of ventures and inventions, of setbacks and successes. A story that takes us from Kortrijk to the United States and Guatemala.

This audio walk is only available in Dutch.
